Business and Commerce

This city is known as one of the most commercial areas in the country, and those places not having commercial businesses are mostly occupied by residential areas. Throughout the city it is easy to find dozens of restaurants, clothing stores, dental and medical services, and major banks.

Some of the most prominent businesses in the country are located in Tibás. Metalco, a major producer and distributor of steel products and iron structures for construction, has its business here.  Holtermann, one of the biggest importers of wine and liquor in the country, has a main office in San Juan de Tibás. Furthermore, Costa Rica’s largest and most well-known newspaper,  La Nación Newspaper, has its headquarters in Tibás.

One of the biggest attractions in town is the Saprissa Stadium.  Saprissa is the local soccer team and the most popular team in the country along with Club Sport Herediano and Liga Deportiva Alajuelense. The complex is also used for major international concerts and special shows cater to large audiences.
