Getting to and from Tambor, Costa Rica.

Tambor is located on the Nicoya Peninsula's inner coast, which faces the Golf of Nicoya and "mainland" Costa Rica. It sits on the Bahia Ballena, or Whale Bay.

Tambor's airport is a big draw for those looking to invest in the southern Nicoya Peninsula. As the only airport in the area, it boasts at least half a dozen daily flights to San Jose, the capital of Costa Rica, along with other key destinations, such as Liberia, Quepos, and Puerto Jimenez. Frequent flights brings travelers who are short on time or who prefer to travel by air each day, and make it possible for foreigners who have a second home here to travel quickly and efficiently.

Those who enjoy traveling via car are in for a fun journey going to San Jose or other Central Valley locations.  The Paquera ferry shuttles passengers and their vehicles between the small town of Paquera, about 20 minutes north of Tambor, and Puntarenas, which is near the Interamericana Highway.  All roads are paved and very simple to navigate, and the ferry ride is inevitably entertaining, with beautiful mountain and bay views, and frequent aquatic wildlife viewings from aboard.  This journey takes about 3 1/2 hours from Tambor to San Jose.
