The town has one small minimart that has a selection of fruit and vegetables, local dairy products, and other basic necessities. Some of the best restaurants in the South Caribbean are in this neighborhood, including homemade Israeli food at Pita Bonita, typical Caribbean food at Selvin’s, and the highly revered El Refugio seafood and steak restaurant. For even more variety, residents and vacationers head a few miles to Playa Chiquita or Playa Cocles, which each have more restaurants, some cafes, and a grocery store. In addition, nearby Puerto Viejo has a post office, medical clinics, pharmacies, banks, several grocers, and many other town conveniences.

Most people living in Punta Uva have their own vehicles for running errands and getting around in the rain or in the dark.  During the day, many residents and travelers walk the long stretch of beach or get around by bicycle.

Due to its remote location, Punta Uva is typically quiet with no nightlife or noises except for the animals and insects in the jungle. The exception is when the Punta Uva Lounge across from the beach occasionally throws an all night party.
