Location and Climate

Buenos Aires is a canton in the Puntarenas province. It has a relatively large population of 43,526 people. The capital of the canton is also called by the same name. The canton includes 9 districts, various valleys, and mountain ranges. Buenos Aires Airport (BAI) is the domestic airport right in town. The closest international airport is 134 miles away, Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO). An easy drive up Route 2 takes only an hour and a half to get to the pretty Pacific coast. The beaches can also be accessed by backroads, a memorable way to see Costa Rica. A 4x4 is needed for the beautiful, rugged backroads, and many believe getting there is half the journey and an exciting part of the experience. The temperature is nice and warm, between 78 and 89 degrees Fahrenheit on most occasions. May is the rainiest month and most months see a little rain each day. Still, most of the day is sunny and warm.
