Schools and Education

While Punta Uva does not have international schools for children, there are several close by. For example, Playa Chiquita is right next door to Punta Uva and has a private preschool and nursery school, Mi Jardin, for international and local residents. Also in Playa Chiquita is the Centro Educativo Playa Chiquita for children up to age six, which adapts the Costa Rican educational system to meet student’s individual needs. The Centro Educativo Playa Chiquita focuses on environmental awareness, creative expression, and spiritual growth. Classes are taught in Spanish. Playa Negra, a fifteen-minute drive from Punta Uva, has the Waldorf School, Sea Heart, for young children ages two to six. The Waldorf School, Sea Heart offers many beach field trips and promotes holistic learning. The classes are multicultural and taught in both Spanish and English.
