Moravia Costa Rica

Located near downtown San Jose, but at the same time close to the country side of Costa Rica, Moravia has become one of the nicest cantons of the San Jose province.  Moravia was named in honor of Juan Rafael Mora Porras, president of Costa Rica from 1849 to 1859, and best known for leading the country´s forces against William Walker´s invasion from Nicaragua. The capital city of Moravia is San Vicente.

Moravia is considered by many to be a great place to live. The weather is perfect; it is a very secure small town and is close to downtown San Jose and major commercial zones in the area. Moving to other provinces is easy since Moravia has several roads in the rural areas that can take you quickly to Heredia, Cartago, and Limon.

There are several well-known and highly coveted neighborhoods in Moravia, including Los Colegios, La Alondra, and La Guaria. There is a well known Country Club in La Guaria (Club La Guaria) where sporting and recreational facilities can be found. Club La Guaria has become part of Moravia’s story and important reference point in the area for over 50 years.

Commercial expansion in Moravia is causing a rather rapid increase in land value; however it is still easy to find relatively cheap properties in the areas near the mountains. These properties are very attractive to foreigners looking to retire and also for those developing businesses in the area or in other nearby Costa Rica regions.
