Climate and Getting to Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica.

Puerto Viejo is found along the southern Caribbean coast of Costa Rica.  The town is 135 miles from the Juan Santa Mariá International Airport (SJO) in San Jose or 60 miles from the Isla Colon International Airport (BOC) just across the border in Panama. In addition, Puerto Viejo is only 37 miles from the port city, Limon, where cruises often stop. Limon is the largest nearby city and offers many excursion opportunities like horseback riding, rafting, hiking, and aerial trams through the Braulio Carrillo National Park.

Puerto Viejo’s temperature ranges from 68-84 degrees Fahrenheit, although the humidity can make it feel warmer. The rainy season is typically from November to January, and then again in July. Since it is a rainforest, light rain can be expected throughout the year in short bursts.
