Climate and Location

San Isidro de El General feels like its worlds away from any major metropolis, but it is actually a mere three hours south of the capital, San Jose. Upon arriving at Costa Rica's Juan Santamaria International Airport, one simply hops on the Interamericana Highway, which takes them right to their doorstep in San Isidro de El General. Just north of town, a portion of the highway has been dubbed with the ever exotic title, "Cerro de la Muerte," or the Mountain of Death. With its steep elevations, mysterious fog cover, and incredible views, it always makes for a twisted and fun drive. Conveniently, after just 30 minutes of driving west from San Isidro de El General, one arrives at another sizable highway - the Costanera Sur, which grants access to all of Costa Rica's central and south Pacific destinations.
