Location and Climate

San Pedro and its surrounding suburbs typically have a warm climate with a moderate rainy season. The average temperature in March and April is around 84 degrees, and there is an abundance of shade throughout the area. The temperature can drop as low as the upper sixties in the month of September. Umbrellas are necessary from the beginning of September to the end of October. A fabulous aspect of San Pedro is that one can see mountain views from just about every location in the city.

Getting There and the Surrounding Area

San Pedro is a part of the Montes de Oca canton and the capital of the San Jose province. San Jose and San Pedro are a walkable distance from each other. Public busses run to and from the capital and San Pedro, stopping at popular hang outs and places of business along the way. The Juan Santamaria international Airport in Alajuela is about 15 minutes away by car.

San Pedro is close to more than San Jose. It is also located in close proximity to Tres Rios and Cartago, two other residential areas. Jaco is the closest beach at about 73 miles from downtown San Jose. From there, one can easily continue to Manuel Antonio, the home of one of Costa Rica’s most famous national parks with terrific ocean views. With its comfortable distance from major beaches like Jaco and Manuel Antonio, one can easily maintain a beachfront home while residing the majority of the time in San Pedro.
