Climate and Location

Climate and Location in Santa Ana, Costa Rica.

Santa Ana, like most of the Central Valley, has a temperate climate. Temperatures hover wonderfully between the low and mid-eighties year round. The months of March and April are the warmest, while things cool off a bit in September and October thanks to afternoon showers. October is really the only true “rainy” month, where it is possible to experience consistent rainfall lasting from morning to night.  Most locals and long time residents affectionately welcome the rainy months with open arms, preferring to take it easy and simply read a book while listening to the rain on the roof.

Santa Ana is conveniently located two miles outside of the posh city of San Jose, making travel from San Jose’s Juan Santamaría International Airport a snap.  Busses run frequently between Santa Ana and San Jose, or you can easily reach the area by taking the Prospero Fernadez expressway.

To get your fill of ocean views, head to the Pacific coast. You can visit Puntarenas, Jaco, and a number of smaller beaches in about an hour’s time.  Many residents maintain beachfront homes across the coast while permanently residing in Santa Ana.
