Located less than 30 minutes away from the Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia, Belén is a convenient place to live. Residents are able to travel to the commercial center of Liberia in only 20 minutes, and Belén’s location on the major highway 21 makes it the perfect town for businesses wanting to attract customers.

For entertainment, the massively popular beachtown of Tamarindo is only 15 minutes away.  Playa Flamingo and Playa Conchal and its Golf Club and Spa offer high-end recreation and are only 30 minutes away.  Other popular beaches in this area include Playa Real, Playa Penca, and Playa Prieta.

Traveling north, Coco Beach is only 30 minutes away and is very popular for expats and tourists. Playa Grande, Playa Panama, and Playa Hermosa are only a few more minutes north and are popular for water sports. The Occidental Grand Papagayo and the Hotel Riu All Inclusive resort bring many professionals to the area, and local services—including highways—have been improved recently to accommodate.

The Diria National Park and Barra Honda National Park are great for nature lovers. These protected parks are less than an hour away and offer an excellent chance to escape the busy 9-5 life and immerse yourself in fresh air and wildlife. Adventure tours are also available at the local beaches and include surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming, and sport fishing.

For tourism, the high season in Guanacaste begins in November, when everyday features beautiful sunshine and rain is never a worry. Residents in Belén notice a large growth in business during this time.  The month of May brings the green season, where nearly everyday still features those beautiful sunshiny mornings, followed by afternoon showers.
