Location and Climate

Location and Climate: Cobano, Costa Rica.

Located on the Southern Nicoya Peninsula on Costa Rica’s Northern Pacific Coast, Cóbano acts as the hub to the nearby beaches.  Roads to all Southern Nicoya beaches pass through Cóbano including Santa Teresa, Montezuma, and Cabuya. Cóbano sits inland, but is a short drive or bus ride to many beaches and is a ten-minute drive from Montezuma.

You can reach Cóbano from San José in five and half hours by bus and a short ferry ride. Alternatively, domestic flights service Tambor which is less than a half hour drive away.

The North Pacific Coast in Costa Rica, where Montezuma lies, has some of the driest weather in the country. Daytime highs average between the high 80s and low 90s, with evening lows in the upper 70s. The air is dry and humidity is low during the region’s high season, which is from November until April. The green season begins in April and ends in November, however September and October remain the only particularly rainy months.
