Peninsula Papagayo Local Guide

What life looks like on Costa Rica’s most exclusive private peninsula: world-class resorts and golf, a full-service marina, protected beaches and waters, and the country’s easiest access to an international airport.

Location & getting there

Peninsula Papagayo occupies a gated 1,400-acre peninsula on the Gulf of Papagayo in northern Guanacaste, roughly 25–30 minutes from Liberia International Airport (LIR). That proximity, paired with private-community security, makes it a favorite for international owners.

The resorts

Three landmark resorts anchor the peninsula: the Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica, the Andaz Costa Rica by Hyatt, and the new Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve. Residents enjoy access to their dining, spas, and beach clubs.

Golf, marina & beaches

The Arnold Palmer Signature golf course runs along the ridgeline with ocean views on both sides; the Marina Papagayo offers berths and a waterfront village; and a series of protected beaches — including Prieta and Virador — line the calm Gulf of Papagayo, ideal for swimming, paddleboarding, and boating.

Things to do

Tee off, keep a yacht at the marina, sportfish and dive the Gulf, and explore Guanacaste beyond the gates — Rincón de la Vieja volcano, hot springs, zip-lines, and national parks are all within easy reach of Liberia.
