Residents don’t seem to mind that there are no private schools in Pejibaye.  That’s because the public schools in the area are of an excellent standard. The school for children ages 6 to 12 is Escuela Dr. Jose Maria Castro Madriz.  This school builds on the wonderful curriculum created by the Ministry of Education and prepares students for Colegio Ambientalista Pejibaye, the secondary school for ages 12-18.  There, the students study English, Spanish, French, Science, Math, Religion, History, and a special course in Environmental Studies. They were one of the first “Ambiental” (Environmental)  High Schools in the country. They have a large gym, soccer field, open air classrooms, and an air conditioned computer lab.
