Flamingo's Top Tours & Excursions
Flamingo is justifiably famous as a world-class destination for fishing, scuba diving, sunset cruises, snorkeling and all other things boat-related. The new Marina Flamingo will greatly enhance its ability to cater to these clients.
The Catalina Islands, about a 45-minute boat ride away, offer the most popular local scuba. Sometimes you can see giant manta rays that measure to 20 feet across. These manta rays visit the islands for regular “cleaning” sessions, which involve the local fish nibbling parasites and dead tissue off their skin. Devil rays, spotted-eagle rays, white-tipped reef sharks, and dozens of varieties of tropical fish also can be seen around the Catalina Islands.
Catamaran and sailboat cruises are also very popular here, typically offering plenty of food, an open bar, and snorkeling. Most of them leave in the early afternoon and return at sunset, often playing the theme from Titanic so that couples can meet on the bow and get in touch with their inner Jack or Rose.
There are numerous fun-filled day trips from Playa Flamingo, including a visit to Rincón de la Vieja Volcano National Park is a popular geothermal hot spot with superb hiking and waterfalls. Often called Costa Rica’s Yellowstone, is has geysers, bubbling mud pots and other thermal features. The Rincón area is also known for white-water rafting and tubing, ATV tours, ziplining, horseback riding, hot spring and mud baths.
