One of Flamingo’s biggest draws is how much you can do without leaving town. Here’s a quick orientation to the marina, dining, everyday services, wellness, and medical care that make daily life here easy.
The Flamingo Marina
The centerpiece of town is Flamingo’s new full-service marina — the only one of its kind on this stretch of coast — with slips for sportfishing and pleasure craft, plus waterfront dining and retail. It’s the hub for fishing charters, sunset cruises, scuba, and snorkeling, and a natural gathering point in the evenings.
Dining
Flamingo and neighboring Brasilito and Potrero offer everything from beachfront seafood and ceviche to wood-fired pizza, sushi, and fine dining. Marina-side restaurants, the Gracia restaurant at Mar Vista, and the long-running spots around Flamingo Beach Resort give residents a deep bench of options year-round.
Groceries & everyday services
Town has well-stocked supermarkets, banks and ATMs, a pharmacy, hardware and home-goods stores, gas, and reliable internet — most within a few minutes of one another. Larger shopping, big-box stores, and the regional hospital are about 45 minutes away in Liberia, alongside the international airport.
Wellness & fitness
Options include gyms and fitness centers, yoga and pilates studios (including at Mar Vista), spa and massage services, and tennis and pickleball courts. The flat beach and ridge roads are popular for walking and running, and the calm bay is good for swimming and paddleboarding.
Medical care
Flamingo has private clinics and dental offices for day-to-day care, with pharmacies in town. For specialized and emergency care, the public hospital and private medical centers are in Liberia (about 45 minutes), and CIMA and other JCI-accredited hospitals are reachable in the greater San José area. Many expat residents carry private insurance and also enroll in Costa Rica’s public Caja system.
