Climate and Location
Playa Guiones sits in Nosara on the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica in the Guanacaste region. Its coastline stretches for three kilometers with Playa Pelada to the North and Playa Garza to the South. The town consists of a few small streets that run from the beach to the main road connecting all of the towns in Nosara.
Climate
Like the rest of the Nicoya Peninsula, Playa Guiones has warm weather year round with a dry season and a rainy season. November through April visitors and residents enjoy sunny days, dramatic sunsets, and consistent surf all day long. The air becomes dry and much of the foliage is brown during this time. The unpaved roads can also be quite dusty. The rainy season lasts from May through November when it rains intermittently and the jungle comes to life. September, however, can be particularly rainy, and many expats spend this time back in North America. Consequently, much of the town shuts down in September.
Getting Around
For those not in a hurry, Playa Guiones can easily be walked via the beach. It is also possible to walk from Playa Guiones to the nearby town of Playa Pelada, a particularly enjoyable walk at sunset. Most residents travel more efficiently with bicycles, mopeds, or cars. Most of the roads are flat and easily ridden with a bicycle.
