Playa Langosta Local Guide

What it’s like to live in Playa Langosta: a refined, walkable beach neighborhood on Tamarindo’s doorstep, with great surf, protected shoreline, and easy access to everything the area offers.

Location & getting there

Langosta lies just south of Tamarindo, across the Langosta estuary, in the Cabo Velas area of Santa Cruz, Guanacaste. It is about an hour and ten minutes from Liberia International Airport (LIR), and you can walk or drive into Tamarindo in minutes for dining, banking, and shopping.

The beach & surf

Playa Langosta is a quiet stretch of sand known for its river-mouth surf break, tide pools, and some of the best sunsets on the coast. The beach is part of Las Baulas National Marine Park, so the shoreline stays low-density and dark at night to protect nesting turtles.

Dining, shopping & services

Langosta itself is residential, with a few well-regarded restaurants; the full range of Tamarindo’s dining, groceries, medical care, and shopping is a short hop away. Many residents enjoy Langosta’s calm while treating Tamarindo as their hub.

Things to do

Surf the Langosta break, walk the beach and estuary, kayak the mangroves, and tap into Tamarindo’s sportfishing, sailing, and nightlife. The golf, tennis, and beaches of Hacienda Pinilla are a short drive south.
