Playa Panama Local Guide | Beach, Gulf of Papagayo & Daily Life
Playa Panama Local Guide
What life looks like on Playa Panamá: one of the calmest beaches on the Gold Coast, a fast-growing residential community, and quick access to the airport, marinas, and the towns of the northern Gulf of Papagayo.
Location & getting there
Playa Panamá lies on Culebra Bay in the Gulf of Papagayo, about 20–25 minutes from Liberia International Airport (LIR) and a few minutes north of Playa Hermosa and Playas del Coco — close to services, yet quiet and residential.
The beach
The beach is a long, gentle crescent of dark sand on a protected bay, with calm, swimmable water that makes it a favorite for families, paddleboarders, and swimmers. The setting is serene and uncrowded.
Dining, shopping & services
Playa Panamá itself is residential; the restaurants, groceries, banks, and medical services of Playa Hermosa and Playas del Coco are minutes away, with the full amenities of Liberia a short drive inland.
Things to do
Swim and paddle the calm bay, boat and sportfish out of the Gulf, golf and dine at the nearby Papagayo resorts, and explore Guanacaste’s volcanoes, hot springs, and national parks — all within easy reach.
