Climate and Location: Avellanas, Costa Rica.
Located on the western coast of Costa Rica's Nicoya Peninsula, Playa Avellanas has many beachfront communities as its neighbors. Thousands of visitors arrive each year to visit the hoppin' Tamarindo beach town just 15 minutes to the north, where dozens of restaurants, bars, and shops ensure that there is no shortage of things to do. The Tamarindo airport makes travel to Playa Avellanas simple, though residents will likely appreciate a 4WD to ford a few small streams on the dirt road that separates the area from all the crowds. International travelers will likely arrive at Liberia's Daniel Oduber International Airport, which is located about an hour and a half away.
