Climate and Location

Location and Climate in Uvita, Costa Rica.

Uvita is located on the South Pacific coast of Costa Rica, about ten miles south of the popular surf town Dominical.  It sits in the middle of the protected Ballena Marine National Park, which encompasses 270 acres of land. The capitol city San Jose is just a few hours away by car, which provides access to the Juan Santamaría International Airport.

The temperature in Uvita remains in the mid eighties year round, although the humidity can make it feel a bit warmer.  Like the rest of the Pacific coast, Uvita has a distinct high and green season, but tends to be more humid than the North in general.  December through April is the high (or dry) season but there is a small amount of rainfall during this time, keeping the jungle lush and green.  Generally during the green (or rainy) season, every day has sun in the morning and some rain in the afternoon or evening.  September is typically the rainiest month of the year and it’s possible for rainfall all day long during this particular month, making it the ideal time for Uvita residents to travel or plan family vacations.
