Education
Alajuela residents have many options for quality education for their children.
Some of the private options include the Saint Paul College and Saint John de Alajuela. Saint Paul opened its doors 30 years ago and is well known for being one of the best bilingual schools in the country. Saint John has been teaching children for over 25 years and also offers a bilingual education. Both schools offer education from kindergarten through high school.
The Colegio Cientifico de Costa Rica is well known in Alajuela, although The Colegio Cientifico de Costa Rica places less emphasis on English than the aforementioned schools. The Colegio Cientifico de Costa Rica offers additional studies like business management and computer engineering.
In addition, it is common for students from Alajuela to attend schools in other cities. The cities of San Jose and Heredia are less than 20 minutes from downtown Alajuela and both cities offer additional education options. Student transportation services readily assist families choosing this option.
