Cariari, Costa Rica: A Vision of Lovely

The city of Cariari (Cuidad Cariari) is synonymous with firsts: the first golf course in Costa Rica, the first shopping mall, and the first high-end real estate development in the country.  Situated between the capital city of San Jose and the Juan Santa Maria International Airport, Cariari is part of the San Belen, Heredia jurisdiction, with an easy jaunt into the towns of Heredia central and Alajuela.

Originally used as lush coffee plantations, a 247-acre parcel was purchased and later sub-divided into three primary neighborhoods: Bosques de Dona Rosa, Dona Claudia and Residencial Los Arcos.  Development plans provided lots for approximately six hundred luxury estates, middleclass homes and condominiums, many of which have sprung forth over the past twenty-five years.

Each of the three neighborhoods have distinct features. The largest and most affluent, Bosques de Doña Rosa, is lined with beautiful trees and wide, well-maintained streets and sidewalks – something of a novelty in Costa Rica.  Bosques de Dona Rosa provides excellent security, combined with quiet and privacy. Bosques de Dona Rosa includes grand estates and is one of the most popular neighborhoods for both renters and buyers of Costa Rica real estate.

Los Arcos offers a more middleclass selection of homes and condos, but also features excellent security, quiet, and privacy.

The Dona Claudia residential area within Cariari combines a variety of single family homes and condominiums, many offering views of the Cariari Golf Course. Here too, many 24-hour security guards and kiosks keep an eye out for their residents.

With each Cariari neighborhood having expansive parks and controlled access, any one of these neighborhoods provides a safe environment and easy access to venture forth and explore more of Costa Rica.
