Playas del Coco Location and Climate

Playa del Coco is located 36 kilometers (22 miles) from Liberia.  Most visitors arrive via plane to the Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport, the recent expansion of which has lead to a boom in Coco Beach and its surrounding developments. Coco Beach is also only 15 minutes from the brand new CIMA Hospital built on the outskirts of Liberia and only 30 minutes away from the excellent San Rafael de Arcángel Hospital in Liberia’s city center. This easy access to quality health care has created another boost for the development of Coco Beach and its surrounding areas.

Playas del Coco is also ideally located close to several attractions, including Rincón de la Vieja, a geothermal hotspot and national park that offers fascinating geology, superb hiking, and access to the lake-filled crater of Rincón de la Vieja volcano. Playas del Coco is less than two hours away from the Nicaraguan border, and many people include fun trips to Nicaragua’s San Juan del Sur and/or Granada as part of their Costa Rica vacation.
